Kyoto Kagaku's full body Pediatric Lumbar Puncture Simulator has been designed by medical education experts to enhance formal LP procedural skills training and assessment. It allows students and medical professionals to practice frequently and achieve high levels of procedural competence.
Representative of a 7-10 month old infant, the training manikin closely simulates the lumbar anatomy, including the anatomical landmarks, providing life-like sensation of both skin and tissue resistance to the spinal needle.
This training model is supplied with two LP blocks, one shallow and one deep, that give realistic resistance upon needle insertion, and simulated CFS (water) can be collected and measured.

We're having trouble replacing our lumbar puncture block
Below is the standard way to insert a lumbar puncture block into the paediatric lumbar puncture trainer:
Ensure that the space within the infant's back is clear of obstructions
Ensure both connectors on the LP block are undamaged and unobstructed
Locate the block in the gap, with the flat opaque connector
Push firmly into place
Connect the tubing from the irrigation bag to the nozzle end of the LP block

How do you empty the lumbar puncture blocks after use?
Remove the LP Block from the infant manikin, leaving the tubing attached to the irrigation bag
Pull the syringe open to the 50ml mark and lock to the connector on the block by screwing it on clockwise
Open the clamp on the irrigation bag tubing
Slowly depress the syringe to push air into the block to eject the water
Once the block is empty, close the clamp on the tubing
Remove the irrigation bag tubing and syringe from the block
If you're not attaching a different block for another procedure, you should also drain the irrigation bag and let all components dry naturally before storing.
