Ultrasound-guided thoracentesis trainer with two puncture sites and strap-on units that let the procedure be practised on a simulated patient. Effusion volume is adjustable.

The Ultrasound Guided Thoracentesis Simulator facilitates training for puncture and injection training under ultrasound guidance.

The two puncture units, mid-scapular line access and mid-axially line access, both include the ribs, soft tissue, pleura, lung and diaphragm. The ribs can be palpated from the surface to determine site for needle insertion. Volume of fluids can be controlled.

The strap-on puncture units can be worn by a simulated patient, so patient positioning and communication can be trained in the same session as the procedure itself. The set includes an adult chest model, a mid-axillary line unit, a mid-scapular line unit, an explanation model for thoracentesis, an irrigator, a funnel, a 50 ml syringe, a tube with three-way stopcock and a plastic jar. Torso size approximately W40 x D25 x H50 cm, weight approximately 9.2 kg. Made from soft resin and latex free. Recommended needles: 22G-23G (needles are not included).
