Our Story
Limbs & Things was founded in 1990 by medical artist Margot Cooper, who recognised the need for a more ethical and accessible way to teach clinical procedures.
At the time, medical training often relied on cadavers or animal models. Margot believed that carefully designed anatomical simulators could provide a safer and more effective way for clinicians to learn and practise essential skills.
Working closely with doctors and educators, she began developing realistic training models that allowed healthcare professionals to rehearse procedures repeatedly in a controlled learning environment.
Over the past three decades, this vision has grown into a global company dedicated to advancing healthcare education through simulation.
What We Do
We design and manufacture medical simulation equipment that helps healthcare professionals learn and practice clinical procedures.
Our products include:
- Clinical skills task trainers
- Surgical simulation trainers
- Laparoscopic training systems
- Obstetrics and childbirth simulators
- Ultrasound-compatible training models
- Procedural training models for emergency and primary care
These simulation tools allow students and clinicians to develop competence and confidence before treating real patients.

Research & Clinical Validation
Simulation plays a critical role in improving patient safety and clinical competence.
Our trainers are developed through iterative testing, clinician feedback, and academic collaboration to ensure they meet the needs of healthcare educators.
Several of our simulation models have been evaluated through clinical education research and are used within structured training programmes and certification pathways.
This evidence-informed approach helps ensure our products support effective learning outcomes for healthcare professionals.
