Junior Medical Artist

The role aims to assist in clarifying teaching objectives and associated anatomy for user and product needs, ensuring precise definition of anatomy in 2D and 3D where relevant. It involves creating anatomically accurate 3D sculpts aligned with product requirements and generating supplementary media like artworks, vector illustrations, 3D models, and animations for end users to utilise alongside the product

Full-time

£24,000 gross per annum + Bonus up to 5%

General:

  • Assisting the project lead in planning and executing a project
  • Delivering 2D and 3D assets while working to a pre-existing project plan

3D Interactive/AR (ART project):

  • Working within a team to research and produce 3D assets and animations for 3D Interactive and Augmented Reality through the full 3D production pipeline.
  • Collaborating with a team of internal and external developers to meet deadlines and project requirements;

Manufacturing/R&D support:

  • Assisting the project lead with defining/designing our products in early project stages
  • Producing 2D and 3D drawings/illustrations/models to be used for reference during the prototyping phase of a project.
  • Researching and producing 3D assets for use in 3D manufactured products through conversion to Solidworks CAD.
  • Producing high quality customer-facing reference materials for use with Limbs&Things products, educational materials, and user guides etc.

  • Master’s degree in Medical Art, Medical Visualisation or other relevant degree or experience.
  • Good working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is required.
  • Experience with 3D programs (ZBrush and Autodesk Maya/Blender/C4D), and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • We use Maya, so experience with Maya is preferred. However, we are willing to consider candidates with demonstrable experience with Blender/C4D who are also willing to learn.
  • Ability to create accurate 2D and 3D medical illustrations of human anatomy, surgical sequences, pathological specimens, with main focus on digital programs such as Photoshop, ZBrush and Maya.
  • Ability to work independently within a team, following an existing project plan.
  • Ability and willingness to take on feedback, as well as willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrable experience with 3D pipeline for game development/AR (low poly – UV – high poly – texturing – etc.) is beneficial.
