Production Engineer (Electrical/Electronic)
The job holder will be a member of the Production Engineering department. Production Engineering are responsible for ensuring that production has all the machines, equipment and tools required to enable the highest quality product to be produced. The role will require regular interaction with other departments, primarily Production, Quality and R&D.
The prime purpose of the Production Engineer role is to implement fault find, and repair electronic/electrical systems, installations, and infrastructure within the company, and to support, recommend and implement the use of electronics/electrics across the business.
The Production Engineer will also provide support for New Product Introduction. We are continually looking to improve our product offering and integration of new technology forms part of this. The successful candidate will play an important role liaising with R&D, advising on production setup. This will include repurposing existing equipment or designing, developing, and sourcing new production/test equipment required to allow the new product to be produced successfully.
A typical day could be as varied as conducting planned preventive maintenance on current equipment, followed by commissioning/installation of new machinery to designing test equipment for the new product development process. The role will offer variety, plenty of challenges and opportunities to develop for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a similar role in a manufacturing environment and with a minimum Level 3 C&G/BTEC in an electrical/electronic engineering discipline or relevant apprenticeship.
You will have some competencies in the use of Samsung PLC’s and C++ and ladder logic for programming as well as experience with panel wiring. You will also have knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Due to the nature of the role, previous experience with manufacturing equipment used for an injection moulding process and ability to make use of manual workshop machinery e.g., lathes and turret milling machines, cutting saws, pillar drills etc. will be needed.
The successful candidate will be someone with a methodical thinking, and problem-solving driven approach, with good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. You will be enthusiastic and inspiring as you will train and mentor junior team members as well as building relationships at all levels across the business.
