IOUSFAN - Abdominal Intraoperative & Laparoscopic Ultrasound Phantom
IOUSFAN is designed to facilitate training and demonstration in upper abdominal intraoperative ultrasound scanning both for open surgery and laparoscopy.
Overview
- Phantom materials are soft to the touch to allow a realistic probe manipulation yet durable for long-life training use
- Container allows immersion into water scanning for contact & stand-off techniques, simulating real abdominal intraoperative and laparoscopic scanning
- Container and phantom fit within laparoscopic trainer boxes (please check your dimensions), to allow for ultra-sound of organs under direct laparascopic view
- Durable long-life phantom materials
Realism
- Near real-size organs, structures and abnormal lesions with approximate-to-human echogenicities
- Detailed hepatobiliary, pancreatic and other abdominal anatomy meeting requirement for excellent training: open intraoperative scanning and laparoscopic examination
- Lesions, including biliary stones and cysts, solid tumors
- Detachable stomach and duodenum allows various scanning methods of the bile duct and pancreas
Anatomy
Organs included:
- Liver (segmental anatomy, portal and hepatic venous systems, ligamentumteres and ligamentumvenosum)
- Biliary tract (gallbladder, cystic duct, intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts)
- Pancreas (pancreatic duct)
- Spleen
- Kidneys
- Detailed vascular structures (aorta, vena cava, celiac artery and its branches, portal vein and its branches, superior mesenteric vessels, renal vessels, etc)
Pathologies included:
- Hepatic lesions (cystic and solid)
- Gallbladder and bile duct stones
- Pancreatic tumors (portal vein)
- Splenic lesions
- Kidney lesions
- Left adrenal tumor
Skills Gained
- Intraoperative scanning of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas
- Laparoscopic examination of the biliary system for screening of stones
- Evaluation of hepatic and pancreatic lesions.
