TruMan Trauma X (Light Skin Tone)
TruMan Trauma X enables life-like training in advanced airway management skills for life threatening trauma situations.
This anatomically correct adult male torso manikin incorporates the AirSim® airway for a range of resuscitation and airway management skills training.
What are the key features of this airway management trainer?
Cricothyroidotomy and tracheostomy - palpable cricoid landmarks, laryngeal cartilages, and tracheal rings.
Chest tube insertion - recognition of correct position, surgical incision, blunt dissection, perforation of pleura, fluid simulation and finger sweep in the 6th and 7th intercostal spaces.
Needle decompression - right and left tension pneumothorax using a resuscitation bag, needle insertion at the 2nd and 5th intercostal space with positive user feedback.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) – full head tilt, chin lift and jaw thrust for airway preparation prior to resuscitation, life-like recoil during compressions.
Overview
- Cost-effective trainer, with easily replaceable consumables, including needle decompression and chest drain inserts
- Anatomical landmarks and life-like recoil when used as a CPR trainer
- Audible and visual feedback given to users upon successful completion of procedures
Realism
- Anatomically accurate oral and nasopharyngeal AirSim airway
- Thoracic landmarks with realistic feel under palpation
- Inflatable tongue can be adjusted to simulate normal lingual tension, tongue edema, and anaphylactic reactions
- Realistic look and feel of tissues representing skin, fat and muscle
- Accurate representation of rise and fall during ventilation
- Audible hiss on successful needle insertion into 2nd and 5th intercostal spaces
Versatility
- This training manikin has the option to use liquids to simulate haemothorax or pleural effusion
- Air can be introduced on either side of the torso to create a tension pneumothorax
Cleaning
- Remove lubricant residue from the AirSim Airway with warm water and mild detergent
- Mild detergents or enzymatic cleaning agents should be used in-line with manufacturer’s instructions
- This trauma manikin can be fully sanitised by wiping the silicone skin and latex airways with a 75%+ alcohol spray
- Ensure that all components are completely dry before storing
Safety
- TruMan Trauma X Trainers are covered by TruCorp’s 1 year warranty
- The AirSim® airway within this trainer is covered by TruCorp’s 5 year warranty
- Trainer weight is within guidelines suggested for a single person lifting to waist height
Please do not use any of the following when cleaning the AirSim® product range:
- Germicides, disinfectants, or chemical agents such as glutaraldehyde (e.g. Cidex®)
- Ethylene oxide, phenol-based cleaners or iodine-containing cleaners

- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Full use of supraglottic devices
- Endotracheal intubation with direct laryngoscopy
- Combi tube insertion
- Nasogastric tube insertion
- Bag valve mask ventilation (BVM)
- Single lung isolation techniques
- Fibre optic intubation and video laryngoscopy
- Laryngeal mask airway and supraglottic device insertion
Also Includes:
1 fitted Larynx Insert, plus, 4 additional Larynx inserts (replacement packs of 50 are available)
1 wraparound neck skin, supplied on manikin (replacement packs of 5 are available)
What is the expected life span of TruMan Trauma consumable components?
Each component has been created and tested to ensure continued accuracy in training to the following:
- One larynx insert allows for 1 surgical cricothyroidotomy, and 2-3 percutaneous tracheostomy
- Rotatable neck skins allow for repeated use, and approximately 10-15 incisions are possible before replacement
- One set of needle decompression inserts supports over 150 needle insertions
- One set of torso inserts supports 4 complete (air only) chest drain procedures
Note: These numbers are estimated from the number of successful procedures performed on this training mannequin.

What additional equipment is needed during training with the TruMan medical simulator?
The following items are recommended for use with the TruMan Trauma X manikin:
- 7.0-7.5mm ID for nasal intubation
- 8.0-9.0mm ID for oral intubation
- Sizes 3-5 for LMA laryngeal masks
- Similar respective sizes for other supraglottic devices
- 28-32F for chest drain of a haemothorax
- 18-20G for needle decompression of a tension pneumothorax

Does this trainer provide user feedback during training procedures?
Yes, a visible chest rise is seen upon successful intubation, and a “hiss” can be heard when needle decompression of a tension pneumothorax is performed.
