Maternal Hemorrhage Simulator - PROMPT Flex (Light Skin Tone)
In line with the Joint Commission requirement that all JCAHO accredited facilities will conduct maternal safety insitu training, including that of Postpartum Hemorrhage, the PROMPT Flex Maternal Hemorrhage kit has been created for effective identification and management of PPH with an atonic and contracting uterus. The new standards released by the Joint Commission address the most common findings that lead to poor outcomes for women.
In the case of PPH, accredited facilities will have to show proof of compliance. Read our article to find out more.
This kit includes a PROMPT flex birthing mother, as well as an abdomen and Concetrated Venous blood, as well as a container. This allows for the creation of multiple simulated labor training scenarios, and is an ideal training solution for all skills relating to both routine and emergency deliveries. The birthing simulator may be used for hybrid simulation as well as stand-alone bench top training.
For extended use, additional modules include:
Overview
- Allowing for the management of postpartum bleeding, including: fundal massage, bi-manual compression and hemostatic balloon insertion and management
- Blood loss of up to 2 liters can be simulated
- Communication skills with the mother when used as a standardized patient
Realism
For management of PPH:
- Realistic simulation of atonic and contracting uterus
- Anatomically accurate mother
- Ability to give intramuscular injection
- Realistic blood loss volume
Versatility
- Use in training room or in situ as team training or with a standardized patient
Safety
- Latex free
Anatomy
- Anatomically accurate representation of mother with postpartum bleeding
- Realistic feel of fundal massage and bi-Manual compression
Skills Gained
- Management of postpartum bleeding, including fundal massage, bi-manual compression, hemostatic balloon insertion and management
- Estimation of blood loss
- Intramuscular injection
- Communication skills with the mother when used as a standardized patient

All accredited Joint Commission hospitals will be required to address two new standards around postpartum hemmorhage and severe hypertension/preeclampsia. Specifically, hospitals will be required to: • Provide role-specific education to all staff and providers who treat pregnant/postpartum patients at least every two years • Conduct response procedure drills at least annually To view the standards in full, click here: https://www.jointcommission.org/-/media/tjc/documents/standards/prepublications/new_perinatal_standards_prepub_report.pdf
