DESIGN ENGINEER

The role aims to develop L&T products from early prototypes to their final production version via collaboration with the Project Lead. As part of the project team, you will liaise with OPS/ENG and PM Teams to deliver the project deliverables through the NPD phases. Working with Eng. to facilitate a smooth and accurate Tooling/Handover phase, follow all L&T procedures and update these when needed. Update and maintain all relevant documents and databases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design and engineering of new L&T products via the NPD Procedure.
  • Meeting the agreed milestone deadlines.
  • Produce fully working high-quality prototypes.
  • Assists the Project Lead in testing prototypes readiness for transfer into Engineering/Production.
  • Create and manage CAD files, ensuring the CAD data is robust and well-organised.
  • Assist the project lead with planning and managing your work accurately.
  • Assist with evaluation sessions, write reports and support modifications.
  • Produce product and part spec drawings for transfer into Production (CAD)
  • Assist with creating accurate NPD BOMs
  • Write assembly and packing instructions
  • Work effectively with external suppliers and in-house tooling team

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 years minimum experience
  • Ability to plan their work and deliver on time and to spec.
  • Proven Solidworks CAD experience and qualifications.
  • Ability to solve complex design & engineering problems.
  • Creative in their approach to problem-solving and design.
  • Be able to communicate ideas via drawings, models and sculpts & 3D CAD.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal staff and sub-contractors.
  • Be organised and systematic in their approach to the work.
  • Academically trained in product design, industrial design, and design engineering.
